The FBI confirmed that Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez first fired at a military recruiting office on Lee Highway without exiting his convertible, then made entry to a nearby military facility in Chattanooga by crashing through a gate.
He fired at the main building, then entered the main building, pursuing sailors and Marines who were trying to evade him.
Inside, Abdulazeez wounded two in the building, including one mortally wounded serviceman presumed to be 26-year-old Randall Smith, before exiting out of the back of the building and engaging Marines within a fenced-in motor pool.
