More than 160,000 Reddit users have signed a petition calling for the resignation of CEO Ellen Pao in the wake of a furore over the firing of a popular worker.

The so-called “front page of the internet” was flung into turmoil after an admin for the popular Ask Me Anything subreddit (r/IAmA) was dismissed from the company.

Victoria Taylor (known as “chooter” on the site) was responsible for arranging many of the Ask Me Anything Q&As, including one with Barack Obama, Channing Tatum and Julian Assange.

She would help field the questions, timing and in some cases typing and posting their answers to the Reddit community – and was well-liked by the moderation team
