While the July 4th weekend may have gone peacefully in many communities, the same could not be said for Cincinnati.
The city’s Fountain Square was the site of a hip hop and electronica concert Saturday night. But the situation became violent when a large crowd began tossing fireworks and bottles at police, which wounded several police officers:
In an anonymous posting on the website Cincinnati vs. Everyone, someone claiming to be an officer described how he and his colleagues then donned helmets and shields and began assembling in riot formation. Here’s what he claims that they saw next:
“So we see ahead a scuffle begin and think it’s just a fight. Well not so much, it was like 40 v. 1. I saw 40 v. 1, it was 40 black youths stomping the crap out of one unlucky male white. He didn’t do anything to deserve this beating except be white.”
