The fight to recall Ferguson Mayor James Knowles has once again fallen short.

The County Election Commission says the recall petition was short by 27 signatures.

More than 1500 signatures were rejected from people who did not live in Ferguson or were not registered voters.

“Some people couldn’t sign their signature,” said Phil Gassoway of ‘Ground Level Support,’ the group spearheading the campaign to recall the mayor. “Their printed handwriting was their signature and they threw some of those out as well. We’re going to fight it and challenge it. We will have a lawsuit filed in court by next week.”

The signatures were turned in on Friday, June 19.
