(CNSNews.com) – Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), who says someone hacked into his Twitter account to send a lewd photo to a 21-year-old women, said yesterday of the alleged hacking case that “maybe it will turn out that this is the point of Al Qaeda’s sword.”

Weiner was asked by a reporter at the Capitol on Wednesday, “Why wouldn’t you refer it [the case] to the Capitol Police?”

He responded, “Because we don’t know that it’s a police matter. I got spam yesterday from — I got — Can I tell you? Every day all of us get spam.”

He added, “This was a prank intended to derail me or distract me, whatever it is. It is not a federal case. Now maybe it will turn out, maybe it will turn out, forgive me, maybe it will turn out that this is the point of Al Qaeda’s sword and that this is the effort that is going to, this is where it’s going to begin…”
