South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has ordered all state flags to be lowered to half-staff in memory of the nine people killed in Wednesday’s massacre at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston.
“As our entire state comes together in prayer and to heal, we have directed that flags be lowered to half staff in memory of each of the nine lives senselessly taken in Wednesday’s tragedy at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston,” Haley wrote on her Facebook page on Thursday afternoon. “Please join our family in lifting up with love and prayer the families and friends of the victims as our flags fly at half-staff for nine consecutive days – one day for each of those we tragically lost last night.”

Susie Jackson, 87 years old
Ethel Lance, 70 years old
Rev. DePayne Middleton-Doctor, 49 years old
The Honorable Rev. Clementa Pinckney, 41 years old
Tywanza Sanders, 26 years old
Rev. Daniel Simmons, 74 years old, died at MUSC
Rev. Sharonda Singleton, 45 years old
Myra Thompson, 59 years old
