A bumper sticker saying “Shoot a cop” that’s apparently posted on a black BMW in Virginia has drawn the ire of the state’s Fraternal Order of Police, according to a report.

Viewers of Richmond TV station WWBT notified the station of the picture that has outraged those who believe the recent protests over police conduct in Ferguson, Mo., New York City and Baltimore have encouraged hatred of the law enforcement, the station reported.

While Virginia F.O.P. President Kevin Carroll didn’t question the right of whoever may be sporting the cop-killing message to exhibit political views on the vehicle, he told the station that the sticker is “absolutely very dangerous” for officers.

“Officers make mistakes — I understand that,” Carroll said. “But I did not know that it now has become fashionable to hate the police.”

He added, “We already have enough trouble as it is getting good recruits and training people. This just makes it harder.”

The station’s legal analysts said the “inflammatory” sticker might invite some extra attention from cops on the roadways despite the driver’s First Amendment rights, but Carroll predicted officers would take the violent message in stride.
