WACO — Nine people were killed and multiple other people were injured in a confrontation involving motorcycle gangs at a Twin Peaks restaurant on the south side of Waco early Sunday afternoon.

The number of dead could not immediately be confirmed with police. The severity of injuries to others was not immediately clear, and it’s unknown if bystanders at the restaurant were among the injured.

Waco police arrived at the restaurant shortly after noon after a conflict was reported between at least two biker gangs. The altercation apparently began with an argument inside the restaurant which escalated and moved into the parking lot.

Multiple weapons were involved in the melee, including chains, knives, bats, clubs, and firearms.
