Twitter is truly a beautiful thing. Not only does it connect us with people all around the globe, it also has a tendency to reveal our views and true selves for the world to see. Case in point: Professor Saida Grundy, incoming Professor of Sociology and African-American Studies at Boston University.
As originally reported by students at SoCawledge, Grundy’s twitter feed is a thing to behold. Her feed is full of ideological errors, rhetorical straw men, and blatant attacks on men, conservatives, and white people.[…]
In one tweet, Grundy shared a Slate article claiming that “support for segregation” formed the religious right. This is a blatant factual error. Segregation laws, namely Jim Crowe laws, were a creation of liberal legislators, not conservatives ones.
Moving on, Grundy celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Week by trying her best not to shop in white-owned businesses.
Wasn’t it Martin Luther King Jr. himself who said that we should judge people based upon the “content of their character and not the color of their skin?” Seems like a skewed way to honor his legacy.
And apparently, slavery is a “white people thing,” and white pioneers were nothing more than “land thieves.”
