Yet another girls only college changes its policy…

Smith College is changing its admission policies and will begin accepting transgendered women who want to study at the school. Smith is a college for women-only.
The policy change will take effect his fall. “The women’s college had previously asked undergraduates to have consistently identified as female since birth.”
Smith president Kathleen McCartney and board chair Elizabeth Mugar Eveillard said in announcing the change on Saturday that since Smith’s founding, “concepts of female identity have evolved.”
However, the new admission policy does not go in the other direction. The college will not admit those who were born female but identify as male.
Smith is not the only women’s college to adjust its policies, both Mount Holyoke and Wellesley have updated their admission policies to accept transgender women.
