The figure in the target is white…

Some claim a target left at a Burlington City, New Jersey gas station Saturday looks like a Muslim.

“I automatically, I perceive it to be a threat,” Jeanette Rosado told KYW-TV.

Rosado said the statue found outside a gas station owned by Gurmeet Singh, looked like a Muslim in a burqa, holding an assault rifle.

“Because of the way…the hair is covered and it’s all blue. So you can tell it’s a garb,” said Rosado.

The statue is actually a target used at military gun ranges. There is a military range roughly 20 miles away from the gas station.

A spokesperson for the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst tells KYW-TV the statue is a pop-up gun range target and they have been using the same ones since the 1980’s. The image on the target is supposed to be a generic adversary with a helmet. The spokesperson says it is not meant to depict any specific nation or race.

“All I know – I didn’t like the way it made me feel,” said Rosado.
