Baaaah… baaaah…
Via The Hill:
Ninety-two Democratic lawmakers have endorsed Hillary Clinton’s 2016 run for president, according to a survey by The Hill.
Sixty-four House lawmakers, over one-third of the 188 Democrats in the chamber, and 28 senators, over 60 percent of the upper chamber’s 46 Democrats, are in the former secretary of State’s camp. The early tally nearly equals the 93 endorsements she picked up in her 2008 presidential bid.
Clinton formally announced her 2016 bid in a video released Sunday, but the longtime Democratic front-runner has been building up her support for years.
Many of the lawmakers surveyed by The Hill began backing Clinton well before her campaign kickoff, helping the pro-Clinton group Ready for Hillary. Many of those lawmakers told The Hill as early as 2014 they would back Clinton.
Of the 23 Democratic senators who served alongside Clinton during her tenure in the upper chamber, 14 have endorsed her.The strong support could also help ward off any potential challengers, including former Gov. Martin O’Malley (D-Md.) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who are weighing bids./
