You can see from the video that the family attacked the police and quite frankly, it’s surprising that more of them weren’t shot, and the police seem justified in their actions.
But here’s the thing.
If this had been a brawl with black teenagers, and one had grabbed for a cop’s gun and been killed, you know we would already have heard media trumpeting “unarmed black teen killed by police”.
Yet, surprisingly we don’t hear that. Not only because the man killed wasn’t black, so it doesn’t serve that media narrative. But also because they can concentrate on another narrative to exploit: the evil Christian. What we do hear is media emphasizing the fact that the family is a “Christian family band” although there is no reason to believe whatever that their Christianity had anything to do with the brawl.
Here are the basic facts.
Via Idaho Statesman:
The scene of a shooting at a Wal-Mart in Cottonwood, Ariz. on Saturday has been described as a melee, a chaotic scene and a riot.
It left one police officer, Sgt. Jeremy Daniels, 31, shot in the leg. It left a Boise man, Enoch Gaver, 21, dead.
David Gaver, 18, was shot in the abdomen. He has been released from the hospital and is in custody. Daniels, who has been with the Cottonwood Police Department about 10 years, is expected to make a full recovery.
Five adult members of the family are in jail: Peter Gaver, 55; Ruth Gaver, 52; Jeremiah C. Gaver, 29; David Gaver, 18; Nathan Gaver, 27. Two juveniles present during the incident are in custody. One was involved in the Saturday incident, one was not, said Bart Graves, spokesman for the Arizona Department of Public Safety on Tuesday. His department is still trying to figure out how the Gaver family members are related.
The family had reportedly been staying outside the Cottonwood store for several days, living in an Chevrolet Suburban SUV with Idaho plates. Cottonwood is a small town about 100 miles north of Phoenix.
Here’s the leftist media crazy:

Goldie, she who is fond of “unarmed black teenager” expression, doesn’t come to the defense of this family, wonder why?

And, my personal favorite, from Dean Obeidallah, Muslim columnist, who always seems to spring to the defense when a radical Islamist is involved:
