UC Davis law school students took part in a national day of action Thursday, calling attention to the “Black Lives Matter” movement.
“Did their pasts have them deserve to die in that instant? That’s what we need to talk about. That’s why these things are important,” one demonstrator said.
Law school students organized a vigil in front of King Hall for the many recent victims of alleged police brutality in the United States.[…]
FOX40 asked the group of student demonstrators to raise their hands if they felt they could trust police. No one raised their hand.
“What we do is fact gather just in case a case comes up the facts are there,” a demonstrator said.
The UC Davis School of Law has partnered with the National Lawyer’s Guild to hold regular “Know Your Rights” training on campus. The training session aim to educate students about their basic legal rights when interacting with police, as well as how to be arrested peacefully and safely during a demonstration.
“What we want them to do is feel confident that you can tell them no you can’t do this,” one demonstrator said.
