No sooner had he strongly said he would not be intimidated by Obama on Iran then the charges which had been languishing and going nowhere, suddenly were resurrected.

This is scary stuff, kids. It isn’t about whether he is guilty or not, but about the Obama regime, once again, manipulating the investigative powers of government for its own political ends, just as was done against Conservatives with the IRS.

April 1, 2015 Sen. Robert Menendez voluntarily stepped down as ranking member of the Foreign Relations Committee Wednesday following an indictment on federal charges of bribery and conspiracy, though he is fighting the allegations and hopes to return to the post.

“I am hereby notifying you that I am temporarily stepping down as Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,” Menendez wrote in a letter to Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid. “While there is no caucus rule that dictates that I do so, I believe it is in the best interests of the Committee, my colleagues, and the Senate which is why I have chosen to do so.”

The man who is expected to succeed Reid, who is retiring, made clear Wednesday that he was standing by Menendez.

“Bob Menendez is one of the best legislators in the Senate and is always fighting hard for the people of his state. I am confident he will continue to do so in the weeks and months ahead,” said Sen. Chuck Schumer, the likely next Democratic leader.
