Every once in a while, Maher says something pretty great to people on his side. This is one of those times.
Via Truth Revolt:
On HBO’s Real Time Friday, strident liberal atheist host Bill Maher weighed in on the left’s outrage over fashion duo Dolce & Gabbana’s comments defending traditional marriage and criticizing in vitro fertilization, which has led to a celebrity-led boycott of the company (and an ugly back and forth between Elton John and Stefano Gabbana). Maher told his fellow liberals enough with the politically correct policing of those “in their own ranks”; the gay fashion designers, he pointed out, are “95% on your side.”
“We liberals always talk about how the right needs to rein in its crazies,” said Maher, “but the left has some crazy reining in to do too.”
Maher then turned his attention to the chief of the thought police, Media Matters for America, for its recent example of laughable faux outrage over a recent cover of The Economist which used an image of jalapeƱos on an American flag in a story about Latinos.
“Hey, Media Matters, can I say one thing to you?” asked Maher. “Shut the f** up.”
