U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was officially charged with desertion on Wednesday. In light of that charge, these politicians, journalists and political personalities might want to consider walking back some of the statements listed below.
Vice President Joe Biden:
Welcome home, Sergeant Bergdahl. Today we are elated about his return and reaffirm our commitment to recover the warriors still left behind.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid:
[email protected] on #Bergdahl disappearance from Army base: Army will answer these questions, not Monday morning quarterbacks on Capitol Hill
— Craig Caplan (@CraigCaplan) June 4, 2014
National Security Advisor Susan Rice:
Our hearts are filled with joy for the Bergdahl family
— Susan Rice (@AmbassadorRice) May 31, 2014[…]
Meanwhile, here’s what Rep. Tom Cotton (R-AR) had to say on the issue back in June of 2014, in response to the White House push back at Bergdahl’s former platoon mates who’d expressed concern about his service:
“I want to say something to the anonymous sources in the president’s administration who are disparaging the service of Second Platoon and Blackfoot Company. Show yourself, speak in your own name, have the courage of your convictions. And if you don’t, shut up, and stand back and thank these men for their service.”
