There’s no such thing as a free lunch, and the Fort Peck tribe is now learning that there’s no such thing as a free house, either.
A deal with Hollywood actor Brad Pitt and the “Make It Right” foundation that he created in 2007 to give houses to those in need has built exactly zero of the 20 homes promised on the reservation since 2011. A promotion for the foundation states, “…and mixed use housing helping kids leaving foster care in Missouri, to homes for Native Americans in Montana.”
Tommy Christianson, tribal executive board member, said, “That’s what they told us. We have 20 of the best architects in the whole world under us and we’re gonna come and save you Indians from yourselves.”
