Via Basnews:

Islamic State (IS) has killed 18 of its own fighters near the Kirkuk Province border. The men had allegedly contacted Kurdish Peshmerga forces with the intention of surrendering.

BasNews recently revealed that a number of jihadists in the area had contacted Peshmerga forces via text message, asking to surrender to Kurdish forces.

A Peshmerga source in Kirkuk revealed to BasNews that IS arrested 18 militants that intended to surrender. The men were then executed.

“The militants were Arabs that joined IS after the group took control of their area.

“So far more than 10 IS militants have surrendered to Peshmerga forces in the area,” said the source.
