DWS campaigning for Senate would have been a blogging gold mine.

Via Politico:

Debbie Wasserman Schultz has decided to pass on a Florida Senate bid in favor of seeking another House term and completing her tenure at the Democratic National Committee, she said in an interview with CNN on Tuesday.

“I will be running for reelection to the United States House of Representatives and serving my full four-year term that President Obama has asked me to serve as chair of the DNC,” she said.

The decision is further evidence that Democrats are trying to clear the field for their favored candidate, Rep. Patrick Murphy. The 31-year-old Murphy hasn’t formally declared his candidacy, but Senate leaders have made clear he’s their top recruit for the seat held by Sen. Marco Rubio.

Without Wasserman Schultz in the race – and following Monday’s decision to bow out by former Gov. Charlie Crist – the only known obstacle for Murphy is Rep. Alan Grayson, a liberal firebrand favored by the progressive wing of the party.
