Chicago trying to take Ferguson out of the media spotlight.
At least 14 people have been shot – including a 14-year-old boy – throughout Chicago since Friday evening.
Most recently, a man was shot Sunday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.
About 2:30 p.m., the 18-year-old was shot in the right leg in the 5100 block of West Iowa, police said.
He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
Another Sunday shooting left three people hurt in the Englewood neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 1:15 p.m. in the 5800 block of South LaSalle, police said.
A 24-year-old man was shot in the chest and taken to Stroger Hospital, police said. A 25-year-old man was shot in the hip, hand and back and also taken to Stroger. And a 22-year-old woman was shot in the knee and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
All three of their conditions had stabilized, police said.
A person was shot in the head Sunday afternoon in the Portage Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
That shooting happened in the 5800 block of West Patterson at 12:52 p.m., police said.
The male, whose age was not immediately available, was taken in critical condition to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.[…]
The weekend’s first shooting happened about 6:50 p.m. Friday in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.
A 14-year-old boy with documented gang ties was outside in the 1500 block of East 61st Street when someone shot him in the lower leg, police said. He was listed in good condition at Comer Children’s Hospital.
