Yes, you read that right. He then spent most of the time talking about how protest was justified because of racism. He’s just afraid that this shooting might detract from the cause. He also doesn’t say “Hands up don’t shoot” was a lie, and that both the State and the Federal Government found there was no reason to prosecute Darren Wilson.

President Barack Obama made his first public comments about the shooting of two Ferguson, Missouri police officers during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live Thursday night.

“What had been happening in Ferguson was oppressive and objectionable and was worthy of protest,” Obama told host Jimmy Kimmel, according to The New York Times. “But there was no excuse for criminal acts.”

The president also participated in Kimmel’s signature “Mean Tweets” segment, relaying one message about himself that read, “Is there any way we could fly Obama to some golf course halfway around the world and just leave him there?”

As Kimmel had hinted earlier, he asked Obama about Area 51 and possible existence of alien life. “I can’t reveal anything,” he said, adding of President Bill Clinton’s suggestion that he found nothing of interest in those files after taking office, “That’s what we’re instructed to say.”

He then spent more time joking on Kimmel’s “mean tweets’ segment, rather than talk about the officers.
