White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest is not “interested” in former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s personal email, he says.

“Frankly, the secretary’s handling of her own personal email and the maintenance of her own personal email inbox is something that I’m not going to comment on and am not particularly interested in,” Earnest said Wednesday at the White House daily press briefing.

Earnest’s comments were the first White House remarks on the matter since Clinton staged a 20-minute news conference on Tuesday to address the controversy.[…]

During Wednesday’s briefing, Earnest said that the White House did not play a role in determining which of Clinton’s emails were considered personal. Instead, Clinton’s camp made those decisions.

“The White House did not review Secretary Clinton’s personal [emails]. Her team did, and her team is the one who was responsible for reviewing those personal emails,” Earnest said.

“We’re talking about a decision she has made about her own personal emails and that falls outside of the purview of the federal government,” Earnest added.[…]

Earnest noted that he is not aware of any conversations between President Barack Obama and Clinton “in the last couple of weeks.”
