Irish eyes were not smiling Saturday morning after legendary laggard Mayor Bill de Blasio showed up a half hour late for the St. Patrick’s Parade in the Rockaways.
Hundreds of marchers and thousands of spectators were forced to wait when the clock-challenged mayor failed to show up for the 1 pm start.
Organizers delayed the start of the parade for several minutes in the hope Hizzoner would arrive, but finally had to step off. The march was 10 blocks in when it was halted again — this time by the news of de Blasio’s imminent arrival.Impatient onlookers at 115th Street chanted “Worst mayor ever! Worst mayor ever!” while flashing thumbs-down signs.
