Wait, who has to change?

(BBC) — US President Barack Obama says the US has opened a “new chapter” in diplomacy after the Arab Spring uprisings.

In a speech at the state department, Mr Obama said the future of the US was bound to the Middle East by forces of economics, security, history and fate.

“As Americans have been seared by hostage taking, violent rhetoric, and terrorist attacks that have killed thousands of our citizens — a failure to change our approach [in the Middle East] threatens a deepening spiral of division between the United States and Muslim communities,” Mr Obama added.

And another point (or lack thereof) of his speech that got overlooked because of his comments on Israel was his failure to condemn the recent slaughter of Christians in Egypt. Here’s all he had to say on the matter:

In a region that was the birthplace of three world religions, intolerance can lead only to suffering and stagnation. And for this season of change to succeed, Coptic Christians must have the right to worship freely in Cairo, just as Shia must never have their mosques destroyed in Bahrain.

He couldn’t even bring himself to offer even the slightest sympathy to the group of people who are suffering the most in the aftermath of the “Arab Spring.”
