A Stamford man sending threatening pictures of himself holding an assault-type rifle to a wrong number led to his arrest on Saturday.

Nickson Nikollaj, 20, of Maher Road, was charged with threatening and harassment.

Sgt. Kelly Connelly said that on Saturday morning police were called to Hamilton Avenue by a woman who said someone had texted several photos along with a message saying, “you don’t want it.”

One photo showed a young white male pointing an assault rifle at a camera and a second picture showed the same male holding an AK47- style assault weapon with a high capacity magazine. The complainant stated she did not know person in picture and had no idea why the message was sent. The officers saw the pictures and recognized the man in the picture to be someone who had been stopped by police in November of 2014. After identifying the man as Nickollaj, the officers obtained a search warrant for his residence due to the troubling nature of the photos.
