A juvenile has been charged in the December robbery and battery of Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s 17-year-old son near their Ravenswood home.

The boy, whose name was not released because he is under 18, was arrested Saturday in the Dec. 19 robbery of Zach Emanuel in the 4200 block of North Hermitage, the police said Saturday night.

The boy “confessed to the crimes he committed” and has been charged as a juvenile with robbery and aggravated battery in the public way, according to the police.

The police had said in December that there were two robbers. Asked about that Saturday night, Chicago Police Department spokesman Martin Maloney said only that detectives “spoke to several people of interest during the investigation, but this was the only arrest for the battery and robbery.”

A spokesman for the mayor said he was grateful to the police for the arrest.

“The mayor and [his wife] Amy [Rule] are grateful to the dedicated men and women of the Chicago Police Department for their hard work, and they would like to thank everyone who shared kind thoughts and wishes for their son’s well being,” said Adam Collins, a spokesman for the mayor’s office.
