They were ready to detonate manually. Wonder what plan got disrupted?

Via Lodi News:

Police have neutralized a pipe bomb and an incendiary device in a Jeep parked near the Big 5 sporting goods store on Kettleman Lane.

Both devices were carefully made and were ready to be detonated, said Lt. Steve Maynard of the Lodi Police Department. Also found in the vehicle were two loaded magazines for handguns, he said.

No one was injured during the incident, which forced the closure of the parking lot at the Big 5 and a nearby Jack in the Box. A sizable crowd of bystanders gathered to witness the activity.

Maynard said the pipe bomb was ‘disrupted’ and the incendiary device, which he said could have exploded into a fireball, was neutralized with a water cannon. Both were designed to be triggered manually, he said.

The incident started when police responded to a call of shoplifting at the Wal-Mart store across from Big 5 on Kettleman around 1:40 p.m. They detained the female suspect and began searching the her vehicle parked near the Big 5, and found what they suspected might be two pipe bombs in the passenger’s seat.
