MLK’s dream of being judged on your character and not your skin color has died. This is the day the dream died.

Hundreds of protestors cut off the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. parade to start their own demonstration.
The group Shut Down ATL organized the protest on Twitter using #ReclaimMLK.
“We said this MLK Day, this is gonna be the day to reclaim MLK Day because MLK’s legacy was about non-violent civil disobedience and direct action,” said protester Mary Hooks.
Many protestors chanted and held signs, while others participated in what organizers called a “live-in,” lying down in the street.
Errol Davis attended the parade and while he said he agreed with the message, he did not agree with how protesters conveyed it.
“I don’t think that’s it’s fair to everyone else who [sat] here in the parade and they had their chance to walk along and they had to halt because they wanted to stand there,” Davis explained.
