Protesters from the BlackLivesMatter group have shut down Boston’s I-93 after several of them arrived in a truck with 1,200 pound barrels filled with cement and began chaining themselves to them.
The Boston police and fire departments arrived around 9:30am EST and began trying to detach protesters from the barrels. The action is part of a broader series of “civil disobedience” that leads up to Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday today.
This is the first such time CNN has covered one of these demonstrations and can’t help but wonder if it was planned.
