(Fox News) — A large majority of American voters believe the United States is the best country in the world.
Overall, 84 percent of voters think the United States is the greatest country in the world, including 89 percent of Republicans, 84 percent of Democrats and 73 percent of independents.
These poll results are based on interviewing conducted April 25 to April 27, before the president announced the death of Usama bin Laden in Pakistan.
Fifteen percent of voters think the U.S. is stronger today than it was five years ago. Four times as many — 64 percent — think the country is weaker. Another 20 percent say it’s unchanged.
Majorities of Republicans, 82 percent, and independents, 71 percent, think the country is weaker now than it was five years ago. Among Democrats, 27 percent say stronger today, 47 percent say weaker, and 25 percent say the same as before.
