Senators from both parties not happy.
Via Washington Times:
Senators from each party rebuked President Obama on Wednesday for threatening to veto their bill to change Obamacare’s definition of full-time work from 30 hours per week to 40, saying a potential pay cut to struggling American workers outweighs his concerns about increasing deficits or that fewer people would get job-based health insurance.
Legislation by Sens. Susan Collins, Maine Republican, and Joe Donnelly, Indiana Democrat, seeks to undo part of Obamacare’s “employer mandate,” which requires requires larger businesses to provide health insurance for full-time employees — defined as those working at least 30 hours a week — or else pay heavy fines.
Critics say that threshold is forcing retailers, school districts and other employers to cut workers’ hours to 29 or less to avoid the mandate, and they’re lobbying Congress to raise the target to 40 hours.
“We need to make this change as fast as we can,” said Mr. Donnelly, who stressed he does not want to repeal the whole law.
