My concern is what will happen during a background check for the purchase of a weapon. Will the sessions show as a red flag to stop the purchase?

Active duty and a select number of reserve troops will be required to have annual one-on-one mental health examinations under the terms of the defense policy bill that’s currently before the Senate.
The bill, passed by the House last week and now pending in the upper house, sets aside $31 billion for defense health programs, including the addition of yearly mental health exams.[…]
The bill was sponsored by Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss. and Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., members of the Senate Armed Services Committee in an effort to reduce the number of suicides among military personnel. The act – officially known as the Jacob Sexton Military Suicide Prevention Act of 2014 – is named for 21-year-old Indiana National Guardsman Jacob Sexton, who killed himself while home during leave from Afghanistan.
As a member of the National Guard, Sexton received online mental health assessments but was required to have in-person exams only once every five years.
