Over night Berkeley exploded into a scene of sanctimony and sadness. Reuters photographer Stephen Lam had his camera stolen by protesters and was then pepper sprayed by California Highway Patrol when he ignored directions to vacate an area after an unlawful assembly was declared.

As the “demonstrations” turned violent with protesters thrashing trash into the streets of Berkeley, a move which will surprisingly not draw the ire of Michael Moore or Al Gore one protester had his head split open with a hammer when trying to denounce violence, littering and arson.
The irony of course is that the man was treated for injuries by the very people he sought to condemn was irrational, violent monsters.
