ST. LOUIS, Mo. — St. Louis area police union members are keeping watch over former Ferguson Officer Darren Wilson, and they say they’ll keep doing it as long as he needs it.

St. Louis Fraternal Order of Police members have voluntarily been providing security for Wilson since the Aug. 9 shooting of Michael Brown.

The FOP’s executive director did not tell CNN the nature of the protection, but USA Today reports part of their duties include transporting Wilson to undisclosed locations for his safety.

Wilson is not paying for the service.

He resigned from the Ferguson Police Department over the weekend, days after a grand jury decided not to indict him.

Wilson’s attorney says he has been the target of numerous personal threats.
