Representative Juan Vargas (D-Calif.) said President Barack Obama has the “authority” and “obligation” to take sweeping executive action on immigration reform and he hopes the president  “goes big” because, if he does, it will make God “happy” and there will be “joy in Heaven” as a result.

At a Capitol Hill press conference on Thursday, Nov. 13, Vargas said, “The president has the authority, but also more importantly he has the obligation. He has the obligation to act because it’s the right thing to do and, even more importantly, he said he was going to do it. And I believe him, and I just hope he goes big.”

“Mr. President, go big on this one,” said Vargas.

Vargas continued, “I’m so happy that my colleague said the entity or the person that is going to be really happy is God. I believe that is, in fact, the case. I think that there is going to be joy in Heaven when he acts.”
