Jeh Johnson

Nauseating to see the White House legitimizing one of the most anti-American groups I can think of.

(ANAHEIM, CA, 11/13/14) – Later today, representatives of the Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA), along with leaders of other civil rights and Muslim organizations, will hold a media availability following a meeting with United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Jeh Johnson at the Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley in Rowland Heights.

The religious, community and civil rights leaders will comment on concerns about the Obama administration’s proposed “countering violent extremism” (CVE) initiative and its impact on the American Muslim community.

Secretary Johnson is on a three-day visit to California to meet community leaders and state and local law enforcement agencies.

Prior to today’s meeting, CAIR-LA Executive Director Hussam Ayloush said in a statement:

“We welcome Secretary Johnson initiating this meeting with Muslim religious and community leaders to discuss countering violent extremism. We do however have concerns about the program’s adverse impact on the Muslim American community by potentially stigmatizing a religious community that has been a valuable and productive segment of the larger American society.
