Nancy Pelosi on Thursday lashed out against questions about whether she should step aside as House minority leader, suggesting a sexist motive.

During a news conference, the House’s top Democrat asked reporters how many times they’d asked that of soon-to-be Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, as his party failed previously to capture the Senate majority over three elections.

“As a woman, is there a message here?” Pelosi asked.
