The Virginia Senate battle between incumbent Sen. Mark Warner (D.) and his Republican challenger Ed Gillespie remains too close to call, and the Warner campaign is calling in Democratic super lawyer Marc Elias to deal with the legal fight that is sure to ensue.
Roll Call’s Niels Lesniewski reported on Wednesday morning that the Warner campaign would be holding a conference call with Elias later in the day.
Elias has become the go-to lawyer for Democrats across the country when their campaigns face legal problems.
The vote tally between Warner and Gillespie remained close on Wednesday morning. With 99 percent of the vote counted, Warner is ahead by just over 12,000 votes.
