With any luck we’ll be looking at the next Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid by the end of the night.

Note: I’ll leave this thread bumped for the rest of the night. Scroll down for new posts.

Just a reminder, for the Senate, the current status is 55 Democrats to 45 Republicans, so Republicans need to pick up 6 for a simple majority.

34% are saying they are voting to show that they oppose Obama.

Georgia and Kentucky will be closing in about half an hour. Mitch McConnell was leading going into tonight, and if Republicans win the Senate, he is likely to replace Harry Reid and become the majority leader.

Update:

Fox has just called the Kentucky race for Mitch McConnell. That was likely anticipated, but a good start.

What is more exciting is that the race in Virginia is now predicted as too close to call. In September Mark Warner was up by 18, Ed Gillespie, the Republican has closed from 9 points last week to the separation being within a point. That indicates a possible wave on the way for Republicans…

Update:

South Carolina goes for Republicans, Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott, as expected.

Update:

Nikki Haley (R) is projected to win South Carolina governor over Vincent Shaheen.

Update:

First pick-up of the night! West Virginia Republican Shelly Moore Capito wins!. First female senator from West Virginia, great news!

Fox notes spread in Kentucky for McConnell more than what polls anticipated, again suggesting wave underway. Grimes got clobbered…

Update:

What a fun night! Andrea Mitchell has a sad.

With 20% of the vote in, Gillespie is leading by ten points in Virginia. This is an upset in the making if he is able to pull it off, he was behind almost 20 points in September to Mark Warner.

Update:

Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Oklahoma all Republican. In Oklahoma, Republican to replace Republican Tom Coburn, who is retiring, wins, Cory Booker (NJ) and Ed Markey (MA) are the only Democrats so far to win, holding their seats. So far only turn over is West Virginia.

37 (D) 40 (R)

Update:

In a stunner, Republican Ed Gillespie is still up in VA, by seven points, with 40% of the votes in. Those who believe the country is on the wrong track are voting 68% for the Republican.

38 (D) 41 (R)

Update:

Tom Cotton in Arkansas wins! That’s the second pick-up in the Senate. Both governor and Senate in Arkansas go Republican.

Hehe:

So wonderful!

Update:

South Dakota Republican Rounds wins! 3rd pick up!

And here’s a fun expected one, Greg Abbott beats out Abortion Barbie!

41 (D) 44 (R)

Update:

Republican Ben Sasse wins in Nebraska. He is replacing a leaving Republican so is not a pick-up.

Gillespie is still up by 5% with 80% of the votes in.

Hehehehe:

41 (D) 45 (R)

Update:

Louisiana race to go to a run-off on December 6

Ah nuts, Jeanne Shaheen predicted the winner in NH, but that was expected, although it got close at the end, with Scott Brown really making a run.

Update:

GA, Colorado, Kansas – all Republicans leading, NC is neck and neck. Iowa returns about to start. Gillespie still holding the lead in VA, with 90 % in, difference is about 20,000 votes…

Woot Woot Fox just calls Colorado to Gardner, pick-ups go to 4! “Sen. Uterus” Mark Udall, who tried the ‘War on Women’ play, lost but good.

D (42) R (46)

Update:

Another race of import, Charlie Crist goes down in flames in Florida to Rick Scott, who gets a second term as Governor.

Montana goes to Republicans, net gain plus 5! Steve Daines projected winner there…

D (42) R (47)

Update:

Republicans retain control of House and will add ten seats, close to biggest number ever held in House, since 1946…

Update:

Walker now projected winner in Wisconsin, despite all kinds of efforts to take him out by Democrats. Walker, potential Presidential candidate and Right To Work promoter holds on in that battle. We agree we need to look to folks like Walker, anyone who can deal with the depth of efforts to do him in really has the ability to succeed.

“The era of Obama lawlessness is over” – Ted Cruz

Update:

Local TV station calling it for Joni Ernst, not seeing that in the numbers quite yet or from big stations, but Fox says big announcements shortly.
web-ernst-wins

If that holds, that’s the 6.

Obama calling leaders of both parties to meet with him on Friday to talk ‘bipartisanship’. Heh….

Update:

Fox predicting Roberts will hold on in Kansas. That’s a hold that Democrats needed, so that’s a big loss for them. Biden may have killed Orman’s chances by revealing Orman’s Democratic leanings.

Scott Brown is not conceding in NH, they are still saying it is too close to call, and it is still very close.

Update:

Perdue projected winner in Georgia! With Ernst, that would be 6, Perdue is not a pick-up but a hold, since he is succeeding Saxby Chambliss, a Republican.

D(45) R (50)

Tom Tillis (NC) is leading, he will likely be called soon. Alaska is most probably Republican, nothing closed yet. Louisiana is going to run-off but in that the Republican will likely win without a third candidate siphoning off votes.

Fox calls it formally for Ernst!!

Tom Tillis wins in North Carolina, defeats Kay Hagan, +7.

Update:

Rauner wins in Illinois, beating Obama’s candidate, Pat Quinn, in a blue state. This really kicks Obama in the fanny but good.

From Doggie Dog:

Update:

Republican wins governor in MA, that is amazing! To replace the retiring Democrat Deval Patrick, in a deep deep blue state.

Update:

Update:

Republican Sam Brownback holds on to governor in Kansas after Democrats thought they could win. The governors march has gone big for Republicans just as the Senate did, maybe even more so.

More fun? Sandra “Pay For My Birth Control” Fluke is heading to defeat in her CA state senate race…

Brit Hume: The results under Obama have not been good, “this is the chickens coming home to roost”….

Maybe the closest race of the evening? This one, check it out:
