Apparently Chris Matthews is working as an unofficial campaign adviser for Cuomo.
Via Troy Record:
He called the GOP “zealots” and “ideologues” who want to outlaw abortion and oppose gay marriage and gun control.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo delivered a blistering attack on Rob Astorino and Republicans Monday, accusing them of spreading “hate and venom” and trying to divide New York along racial and sexual lines.
“They’re trying to sell their hate and division (and) our message is very simple tomorrow,” Cuomo said at an election-eve rally at the Albany AOH Hall. “That hate and venom won’t sell in New York.” […]
“They want to teach young people in schools how to use guns,” Cuomo said, referring to hunting safety courses in rural schools. “How bizarre a concept is that?”
“Their philosophy is in society it is basically every man for themselves, every woman for themselves,” Cuomo said, “You take care of yourself. You get what you can … everyone’s on their own, the great individualism, the great (wild) west, that’s America. That’s their belief and to do that they need to separate people.”
He chided an Astorino supporter, Troy-area Assembly member Steve McLaughlin, referring to him as a “disciple” who used “divisive, coded language” in comments over the weekend about New York City voters being too lazy to vote.
He said Republicans “play to people’s fears, play to people’s parochialism, play to people’s regionalism. ‘New York City’s getting more than you are … it’s those people who are taking all the money, the poor people. It’s the black people, it’s the latino people, it’s the new people, it’s the immigrants.
