Criterion collection, a set of films that some consider overrated and most consider bad, wordy foreign films intermixed with good movies from Hollywood.
Celebrities create top ten lists of their favorite Criterion Collection Films. Lena Dunham has one too. Guess what Lena Dunham’s favorite movie is?
That’s right – Andrea Arnold’s “Fish Tank” a song/dance movie about a woman from a British inner city who strives to become a hip-hop dancer.
What’s the catch? At the end of the film, the main character finds out she wasn’t auditioning for a hip-hop film but instead she was auditioning for a job at a strip club.
Oh and just for laughs. The heroine and champion of feminism is enthralled with Chris Hedgeus’ film “The War Room” which details sexual deviant Bill Clinton’s rise to fame.
A reads point out that I missed that her #9 pick is an Ingmar Bergman film about incest.
“Like for many Americans, incest is a rough area for me I just have a natural aversion to it. That being said, when I saw this film in my Bergman/Polanski seminar sophomore year, I was so taken with the Bergman way that I forgot to be freaked out by the sex between siblings.”
