CLAYTON, Mo (KMOV.com) – Protesters mistook a corrections officer for a police officer and confronted her in a Clayton parking garage, according to the St. Louis County Executive’s office.
The incident happened October 9 inside the Shaw Park Drive garage near the St. Louis County Justice Center while the officer was on her lunch break.
A spokesperson for the St. Louis County Executive’s office said the officer was not hurt, but said the protesters did confront and yell at her.
“All these people are here and working,” said Florissant resident Linda Seynard. “They are trying to do their job and to be attacked like that is scary.”
Ashley Maghee, a St. Louis resident, agrees.
“First of all, it’s not alright to attack anybody for any reason. Especially given the recent circumstances, that doesn’t make it right.” McGee was citing the events in Ferguson as well as Clayton, where protesters have demonstrated outside the County Justice Center.
