Rep. Gene Green (D-Texas), speaking to C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal” Thursday, said he does not think Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Tom Frieden should be fired, despite calls from some of his Republican colleagues to do so, because Frieden is “a problem solver.”
“I think Tom’s done a good job. I’ve worked with him. I’ve been on the Health Subcommittee since 1997, and I’ve seen a lot of appointed officials come and go. I think he’s serious. I think he’s also a problem solver, and that’s what we need in this job,” said Green, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
