Labor Secretary Thomas Perez said Wednesday that President Barack Obama told a group of young single mothers during a trip to Minnesota several months ago that their children could be the next president of the United States. […]
Obama said it was “a great pleasure” speaking to the teenage mothers, who he described as being between 16 and 18 years old, and telling them that the child of a teenage mother could be a future president.
“It was really interesting talking to them, because there are teenage mothers, 16 to 18, and it was a great pleasure for me to be able to say to all of them that my mom was a teenage mom, and she was 18 when she had me — and to be able to say to all of them that here in this country, it is possible for the child of a teenage mom, a single mom, to end up being president of the United States,” Obama told the young mothers.
