What changed between 1998 and 2014?

Today, former President Bill Clinton is attending a fundraiser in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in support of Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.). Ironically, 16 years ago she begged a reporter not to print a picture of her nearby a portrait of then scandal-plagued Clinton, telling them to “do something” about the photo.

In September 1998, as Hagan was running for state senate, she was so concerned with how the optics of a picture involving a portrait of Clinton would look she asked a reporter not to run the photo because she didn’t want to give the illusion she supported his actions with Monica Lewinsky.
