Sounding like a presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton picked on an easy target Thursday, slamming Congress as “an evidence-free zone” where the reality of Americans’ lives “is so far from the minds of too many.”
Speaking at a panel on women’s issues at the liberal Center for American Progress, Clinton said efforts to raise the minimum wage, provide affordable child care and ensure women receive equal pay for equal work have been blocked by lawmakers’ disconnected from citizen’s daily struggle.

Clinton didn’t mention it, but her remarks came a day after a special House panel formed to investigate Sep. 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi held its first hearing.
