KABUL, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — Afghan security forces have pressed on to clear the militants in restive provinces and killed 52 militants in the latest operations, the country’s Interior Ministry said on Monday.
“Afghan army, police and personnel of intelligence agency carried out cleanup operations in Ghazni, Zabul, Laghman, Badakhshan, Kandahar, Logar, Kapisa, Paktiya and Helmand provinces within the past 24 hours, killing 52 armed Taliban militants, wounding 21 and detaining two others,” the ministry said in a statement providing daily operational updates.
They also found and seized weapons, the statement said, adding three other militants were killed when a roadside bomb they were planting went off prematurely in western Ghor province on Sunday.
