According to an arrest affidavit, Ellis Cornwell, 71, was attacked outside a Walmart store in the 2100 block of SE Loop 410 on Aug. 24 after a disagreement with a woman in the parking lot.
The affidavit stated that the woman, now identified as Candace Luna, 29, hit him with her arm and knocked him to the ground.[…]
The affidavit stated that Ellis Cornwell told San Antonio police he spoke up after the woman left her empty cart behind some parked cars.
That led to an argument which later turned physical, the affidavit stated.
“Apparently my husband said, ‘That’s not real considerate, you know? You could put (the cart) away,'” said Judy Cornwell.
Instead, Luna began to drive off, then circled back, ultimately locating Ellis Cornwell in front of the store, where he’d stopped to smoke, the affidavit stated.[…]
Her husband, however, has been off his feet since last month, recovering from his broken hip in a rehabilitation facility.
“He’s bound and determined he’s going to go back to work,” she said. “He said he’s going to take his walker and mop floors with it.”
