Viable babies, not so lucky.

Via The Hill:

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) praised a federal judge’s ruling that blocked a new rule that would have ultimately forced more than half of abortion clinics in Texas to close.

A Texas law passed last year required all abortion clinics to be turned into surgical centers. Not all abortion clinics would have had the funding to meet the standards for requirements such as hallway width, staffing and certain equipment, therefore causing many of them to close.

Jackson Lee said she was “extremely pleased” with the ruling, which argued that turning all abortion clinics into surgical centers was excessive and unnecessary.

“Let us not jeopardize the right of a woman to choose whether she will bear children. Let us not place a woman’s right to personal privacy at risk. Instead, let us reaffirm those rights and give consistent support not only to those who choose to have children, but also to those who do not,” Jackson Lee said in a statement.
